Anima seamlessly and confidentially integrates with your medical record bringing improvements to how you access care and appointments and how our staff assess your condition.

Anima allows our Clinical Triage Team to continue to improve access times by helping us to direct you to the most appropriate care for your medical needs. This ensures we make use of our limited resources in the most safe and efficient way.

All appointments will continue to be offered according to clinical urgency and need. All Anima requests will be triaged in the same manner to ensure equality of access for all patients.

The telephone lines need to be kept free for those who do not have internet access or who have difficulty in accessing the system. Completing an Anima request yourself also provides you with more discretion should you prefer not to discuss your medical problem with one of our receptionists.

We would like to ask for your patience whilst we change to Anima as we are aware that introducing any new system may have some teething troubles, however we are not anticipating any major disruption.

What are the benefits to me as a patient

As a patient you will benefit from:

  • You can provide all the information that the practice needs without waiting on the phone and an appropriate response will be sent, including a link to book an appointment if appropriate.
  • You will be asked questions based on your issues (asked without medical jargon)
  • You can use the system even if English isn’t your first language.
  • Your medical records will be more complete for the future.
  • The practice responses should be clearer for you to understand.
  • You should normally receive a text message and email to let you know when the practice has responded.
  • Being able to log on to see the status and outcomes of your current and past requests.

How to login to Anima

Anima does require a login, however, If you use a NHS login to access the app or NHS online you can use that login via the “continue with NHS login button” on the Anima login page or by setting your account up with an email address. The advantages of having a log in allows the patient to check their request, see the status and allows us to send more confidential information in response if needed. Anima will also send you a text message and an email to tell you that we have responded so you can log in to see the response.

How it works

If you have a healthcare concern or need to contact the Practice for any medical reason, click on the Anima option and follow the instructions. Fill out the online form, which asks multiple choice questions, similar to those a clinician would ask during an appointment. Anima requests are then reviewed and processed deciding on the right care for you. We will respond to every Anima request by the end of the next working day.

What Type of Request do I need?

What about my data?

Anima has been approved by NHS Digital to be used by your GP Practice and the other systems involved in your care. The NHS has a lengthy assurance process to make sure we meet the highest standards of safety and security. Your data is safe and is shared only with your GP Practice for the purposes of your direct care. Your data is stored and sent securely using industry best practices, and only collects the data that is necessary to allow your GP Practice to provide you with care.
